CANINE INFLUENZA OUTBREAK

The Dog Flu is Spreading

Cases have been reported in Manhattan, Brooklyn and it is spreading to New Jersey.

Symptoms include sneezing, nasal discharge, coughing, fever, decreased appetite and lethargy. It can result in pneumonia and death.

Any dog that spends time in confined areas with other dogs, such as boarding facilities, kennels, dog parks, grooming facilities, and daycare, should be vaccinated. Dogs that live or spend time in in urban areas are also at risk.

We recommend the Canine Influenza Vaccine to any dog with this lifestyle. If you are planning on bringing your dog to any type of facility, your dog should be vaccinated.

Feel free to ask us about if your dog’s specific lifestyle would require the vaccine.
